We are a Professional Membership Association of commissioned civil law notary publics, who've joined together to promote continuing education and ethics in all acts where a notary public is involved.   Louisiana is unique in that our courts are based upon Civil Law, rather than the Common Law that can be found in every other state in the union.  The Louisiana Civil Law Notary can draft, prepare and execute affidavits, acknowledgements and authentic acts.  Louisiana Civil Law provides for much of our legal documentation to be passed by  a notary, a public official who has qualified for a commission authorizing those powers.

Using an experienced Notary can be an extremely cost effective and convenient alternative for legal document preparation.  The Louisiana Civil Law Notary has broad powers usually reserved for attorneys in other states.  If you need a NOTARY PUBLIC, you've come to the right place.  Our member's directory and the search features are unique tools to help you locate a Notary near you.

BECOMING A NOTARY

A WORD FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Welcome to the Professional Civil Law Notaries Association (PCLNA) web site. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the Association this year and look forward to serving both the membership and whatever your need is for visiting our site.

The goal, at the formation of PCLNA, was and continues to be that of promoting and maintaining the highest degree of knowledge and ethical standards in the practice of Notary Public. We strive to promote honesty, professionalism, and ethics within our industry and membership.

When you choose a member of the PCLNA as your notary, you are choosing a professional who has made the effort to maintain their education and stay up-to-date with the changing laws; and, has agreed to adhere to a code of ethics that sets them apart as a professional.

If you are a notary public, I invite you to join the PCLNA. The network of practicing notaries and the continuing education programs are only two of the many benefits of membership.

On behalf of the officers and members of the PCLNA, I thank you for your interest in our association and wish you success in all of your life’s goals.

Sincerely,
Peggy Day Gill
PCLNA President
